The Real Numbers, purveyors of San Francisco’s finest power pop, are auditioning new drummers for a big 2015. Think Jellyfish, Weezer, Ben Folds Five, The Beatles. Take a listen in that SoundCloud window to the right.
We’re an established band with serious players who serve the song while having a great time. Since 2007, we’ve released two albums, played all over the Bay (Bottom of the Hill, Cafe Du Nord, The Uptown, Hotel Utah, etc.) and L.A., and put out a viral video that’s been viewed over 14,000 times.
Our line-up is vocals/rhythm guitar, lead guitar/vocals, bass/vocals, and, of course, drums. We have a great monthly space at Secret Studios and practice once a week and gig about once a month, potentially more in 2015. We’re in our 30s and early 40s, mature, and generally don’t party when we play.
We can’t wait to kick ass in the new year. We have new management to help hit our goals for 2015, including recording a handful of additional tracks for our third album, putting out 2-3 EPs leading up to a full album release, and booking some solid local gigs and mini-tours on the West Coast.
With all of that momentum, we’re looking for someone that’s laid back and fun to be around that wants to make great music. Someone who has a strong meter and can be creative without sounding too busy. Someone who knows dynamics….when to hit hard like John Bonham, but also appreciates subtle playing, too.
If you’re interested, send us a message here and tell us what you’re looking for in a project, what you’ve been listening to lately, and links to any recordings of your playing…. we’d love to hear them.
If you know any kick-ass drummers, please share this link!
